(New York, NY) — Broadway shows will require audience members to both have the COVID-19 vaccine and wear face masks, at least for the next three months. The Broadway League says guests will need to show proof of their vaccination status as well as a valid ticket prior to entry. As far as face masks, the one exception is areas designated for eating and drinking, where they can be removed. This comes as Mayor Bill de Blasio has called on more businesses to require that employees be vaccinated, saying mandates are needed.

(Austin, TX) — Willie Nelson is playing a concert on the steps of the Texas Capitol this weekend in support of voting rights. The country music legend called a GOP-backed bill “unAmerican” because of its effect on low income neighborhoods. Texas republicans want to roll back expansions made to voting during COVID. Nelson is joining forces with former Democratic Congressman and failed presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke, who has been leading a march to the state capitol.

(Chicago, IL) — Lollapalooza officials are praising the first day of attendees to the annual musical festival in Chicago. Organizers say more than 90-percent of festival goers showed their proof of COVID-19 vaccination yesterday. Eight-percent brought proof of a negative COVID test. Attendees are required to show either proof of a vaccine or a negative test. An estimated 100-thousand showed up yesterday when Lollapalooza opened its doors. Health officials have expressed concerns about holding the event due a rise in COVID cases in Illinois.

(New York, NY) — A New York judge has found Cuba Gooding Jr. liable in a civil suit brought by his rape accuser. U.S. District Judge Paul Crotty in Manhattan granted a default judgment against the 53-year-old actor on Thursday, and said Gooding has “completely failed to engage with this case.” The judgment comes after Gooding failed to respond to accusations from an unidentified woman who claimed he raped her in 2013. Gooding’s lawyer says the accusations are false. The woman is seeking six-million dollars in damages. The judge said Gooding has until September 7th to try to lower the amount.
