Emma Raducanu suffered a major defeat in her first match since winning the US Open.
The 18-year-old British tennis ace was beaten 6-26-4 by Belarusian champion Ariax Sandrasasnovich in Indian Wells, California on Friday night (09.10.21).
Raducanu vowed to learn from his mistakes, so he claimed he wasn’t used to playing at night.
She states: “Aria Axandra played a great match. She is a very experienced opponent who has been on tour for many years.
“I had to get used to the conditions. It was my first time playing at Indian Wells. She was better than me and deserves to win.
“Night play is always different. I don’t have much experience in night games.
“I’ve only played once at Arthur Ashe Stadium. I’m not very accustomed to the tour yet.
“The experience comes from playing weekly, playing weekly, and experiencing all these different things.
“I’m happy to learn what happened today and take it as a lesson, so I’m going to be a more experienced bank.”
Courtsport superstars were the first to advance to the Grand Slam final after defeating Maria Sakkari in a straight set in the US Open semifinals last month.
Raducanu won 10 impressive games and 20 sets in a row at Flushing Meadows in New York.
She then became a star overnight, with Queen Elizabeth of England and the Duchess of Cambridge celebrating her historic success.
The Duchess of Catherine celebrated her victory by playing tennis with a teenager from Kent, England.
An avid sports fan and patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, the 39-year-old royal family met with players at the National Tennis Center in Roehampton, London, and previously chatted with the Duchess to mark his return. Doubles quick game.
Raducanu was impressed with the skill of her royal partner who described Catherine’s forehand as “incredible.”
