Bonnie Tyler has no plans to retire from music.
Featuring her first hit single “Lost in France” on her 1977 debut album “The World Starts Tonight”, the 70-year-old singer reflects her longevity and aging beliefs.
She told Lady magazine, “It doesn’t matter if you’re 40, 50, or 60, but you’re 70! I can’t say it. I feel like I’m talking about someone.
“I was crazy and busy for the years leading up to the blockade. In retrospect, it was too much. Now I want to spend more vacation in Portugal and more time in Mumbles.
“But I like what I do. I don’t do it for money. I love playing. And I miss the band and the crew. It’s my DNA that goes on stage.
“It’s worth traveling for a few hours in front of the fans. It gave me the most wonderful life. I consider myself a very lucky woman.”
The “Total Eclipse of the Heart” hit maker shared the secret of her iconic jarring voice, revealing that it wasn’t due to smoking.
“I never felt inferior to men. I am a strong man and can compete with the voice of the most rocky men.
“When I was in my twenties, I had to remove the nodules from my vocal cords. I wasn’t supposed to talk for the next six weeks. Can you imagine?
“The result was my husky singing voice. People think I must have been a smoker, but I wasn’t a smoker.”
Meanwhile, Bonnie paid tribute to her husband, Robert Sullivan, and explained that he had been her rock for years.
She said, “I fell in love at first sight when I met Robert. At first sight, he said,’Wow! He looked like Warren Beatty. He went to England in judo at the 1972 Olympics. On behalf of us, we got married next year when we were 22 years old.
“We celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary in July. Robert has invested very skillfully over the years. He is always making more money with my money.”
