–Markie Post, the actress known for her roles on the television series “Night Court” and “The Fall Guy” and the movie “There’s Something About Mary” during a career that spanned four decades, died on Saturday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 70. Her death was confirmed by her manager, Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, who provided a statement from Ms. Post’s family specifying that the cause of death was cancer.
— The Duchess of Sussex is dealing with more sibling drama. Meghan Markle’s brother called her shallow in a preview for his new reality show. Thomas Markle Jr. has joined the cast of Australia’s Big Brother. In a video clip released over the weekend, he claims he warned Prince Harry his sister would ruin his life. Meghan is estranged from her brother, sister and their father. She and Harry stepped away from the royal family last year and now live in California.
— Comedian Trevor Moore is dead at the age of 41. The co-founder of the sketch comedy group “The Whitest Kids U Know” died Friday evening from what has so far only been described as a “sudden” and “tragic” accident. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Moore became the world’s youngest published cartoonist with his book “Scraps” at the age of 12. He went on to write and direct the Disney XD series,?”Walk the Prank,” and was the creator and host of “The Trevor Moore Show” on Comedy Central.
— “Modern Family” actress Julie Bowen could be adding one more line to her resume, hero. Bowen is being credited with saving a woman, who fainted while she was on a hike earlier this month at Arches National Park in Utah. Minnie John says she felt lightheaded and told her son and husband to keep going, later waking up with two women taking care of her. Bowen and her sister happened to be the pair, and they helped John contact her family.
— For the second straight year, the New Orleans Jazz Festival is being canceled due to COVID-19. Organizers announced yesterday that the exponential growth in new cases of COVID-19 in the region and the ongoing public health emergency meant the event could not go on as planned. More than 85 acts had signed on to play the festival over two weekends this October. The festival plans to return next year from April 29th to May 8th.
— Former child star Jane Withers is dead. Numerous outlets report the 95-year-old died in Burbank, California on Saturday. She got her start in the 1934 movie “Bright Eyes” alongside Shirley Temple. After taking a temporary break from acting in her early 20s she decided to attend film school at the University of Southern California in 1955. Her credits include “Ginger,” “Giant,” “Little Miss Nobody” as well as starring as Josephine the Plumber in the comet cleanser commercials. She worked with James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rock Hudson in her career.
— “Games of Thrones” actor Kit Harington is opening up about “some pretty horrible stuff” he went through after the show ended. Speaking to The Sunday Times, he said the horrible things included alcohol problems. Harrington said what helped him is clinging to the idea that he could make a huge fundamental change in who he was and how he went about his life. He also said he went through a period where he had “real depression” where he also experienced suicidal depression. Now the 34-year-old says he has a wonderful life as a “very, very happy, content, sober man.”
— Britney Spears’ personal conservator is shooting down claims she said the pop star could require a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold. Spears’ father Jamie, filed legal documents Friday claiming Jodi Montgomery said Britney was “mentally sick” and that she might need to be committed. Montgomery’s lawyers released a statement saying Jamie “misrepresented her position.” It clarified that forcing Britney to testify or be evaluated would not be beneficial for her mental health. Montgomery added she was concerned about the eight-time Grammy Award winner’s overall mental health if Jamie stayed on her conservator.
— A new Warner Bros.-DC Comics film is this week’s champ at the box office. “The Suicide Squad” made 26-and-a-half-million-dollars in its debut weekend at theaters in the U.S. and Canada. Coming in second is “Jungle Cruise” starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt with nearly 16-million-bucks. The M. Night Shyamalan [[ SHAH-mah-lonn ]] thriller “Old” finished third with just over four-million-dollars. Rounding out this weekend’s Top Five are “Black Widow” followed by “Stillwater” starring Matt Damon.
— Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and Steven Spielberg are all celebrating former President Barack Obama turning another year older. People reports they were among the star studded attendees at Obama’s 60th birthday bash over the weekend. The guest list for the affair was scaled back but still had about 200 people at his 29-acre Martha’s Vineyard estate. The source says the 44th president danced all night.
— Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says he is not among the latest celebrity trend of not bathing. In fact, he said he usually showers three times a day. A number of celebrities have said they don’t bathe daily including Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher and Jake Gyllenhaal. Johnson said he takes a cold shower to start the day, a warm shower after his workout, and then a hot shower when he gets home from work. He also said he tends to sing off key in the shower.
