He noted he does not believe a public battle with his daughter over the ongoing conservatorship is in her best interest. Her father asked to work with the court and the singer’s new attorney for an orderly transition to a new conservator. Spears’ attorney Mathew Rosengart slammed Jamie for the move saying he should step down immediately. This comes after Spears testified in court that she wants to sue her family for the alleged abuse she endured over the last 13 years.

(Los Angeles, CA) — A Los Angeles County Superior judge is dismissing a count of sexual battery against Harvey Weinstein. The judge agreed with a defense motion that the statute of limitations had lapsed. Defense attorneys for Weinstein filed court papers last month claiming three of the charges alleging sexual battery and rape had gone beyond the statute of limitations. The disgraced movie producer was indicted in April on eleven counts of rape and sodomy. The L.A. County judge ignored their arguments about two assaults that allegedly took place between 2004 and 2005 but granted their motion to dismiss a 2010 allegation of sexual battery. Weinstein still faces 10 counts of rape and sex assault based on attacks of five women in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.
