Rap reports that a global casting search is underway for the protagonist of Vietnam.
Downey Jr. plays multiple supporting roles, including parliamentarians, CIA agents, and Hollywood film directors.
Downey Jr. not only appears in the series, but also acts as an executive producer.
Park Chan Wook will be the director and executive producer, and will be a co-showrunner with Don McKellar.
The “Sympathizer” novel follows a half-French and half-Vietnamese man who was a Communist spy on the last day of the Vietnam War.
The novel is written as a confession to a mysterious commander whose narrator has captured him.
A sequel titled “The Committed” was released on March 2, 2021.
“Sympathizer” is one of Downey Jr.’s first major projects since finishing his role as Iron Man / Tony Stark in Marvel’s “Iron Man” and “Avengers” movie franchises.
Meanwhile, Downey Jr. recently revealed that “big and fun things are coming.”
He added: “And what I’m trying to do is not just lie down and sit on the trailer between setups. I’m going to connect using the zoom and have dinner after work. To set at 6am Call abroad while driving to.
“We’ve reached zero and all the faders are down on the control board, so we can go a little further and create our own reality. We’ll continue to make movies. Lots of fun. To announce … and what. Trying to do something big, fun and good is a bit of a legacy play for all of us. “
