Kurt Cobain’s childhood home becomes a historic landmark | Entertainment News – Pennsylvanianewstoday.com

Kurt Cobain’s childhood home has officially become a historic building.

The late Nirvana frontman, who committed suicide at the age of 27 in 1994, grew up in the modest land of Aberdeen, Washington, where he lived from 1968 to 1984.

And the Washington Archaeological and Historical Preservation Department has added it to the heritage registration of “Historically Important Places and Properties Found Throughout the State.”

The owner, Lee Bacon, is busy restoring the house and plans to open the door for a private tour next year.

He also announced plans for the town’s tribute lounge and gallery cafe. There, fans of the “Come As You Are” hit maker will find a variety of souvenirs.

Allison Brooks, Executive Director of the Archaeological and Historical Preservation Department, told Rolling Stone:

“In this case, it was Kurt Cobain who honed his passion and skills for music at Aberdeen and his home. Everyone on the council recognized the importance of the place.”

Meanwhile, the grunge icon caricature was recently sold at auction for a whopping $ 281,000 (£ 199,000).

The self-portrait of the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” rocker playing his beloved guitar contains the words “I don’t know how to play, don’t make a fool of me!”.

And it’s signed: “Kurt Cobain Rockstar”.

This unique item significantly exceeded the estimated valuation of $ 10,000 (£ 7,000) when placed under a hammer as part of the sale of the Julien’s Auction Music Icon in June.

Kurt handed the painting to Jack Chung, who filmed the grunge band on a promotional tour of the original LP “Nevermind” in Singapore in 1992.

The caricature was sold after the music legendary hair was sold for $ 14,145 (£ 10,005).

The blonde hair tufts of the “Blew” rocker were placed under the hammer as part of the Amazing Music Auction by Iconic Auctions.

Since the 1989 Nirvana tour, the hair has been kept to support the LP “Bleach”.

Kurt’s friends Tessa Osborne and fans had a haircut on Kurt in Birmingham, England. And after the musician’s death, she gave Seattle artist Nicole Depolo a single rock.

The list says: “This unique artifact is completely new to the market and comes with a lineage of impeccable sources, including images of carts posing with this haircut woman, scissors, and great stuff. A shot of hair that has been cut into!

“She provided a handwritten source note” 29/10/89: Tess cut cart hair in Birmingham, England, 27 Holy Rd., Handsworth, Birmingham B202BU “in the original bag. It is held in its original full lock. “
