PHILIPPI — Longtime Inter-Mountain sports reporter Tony Baisi is now covering Barbour County news.

Baisi was a full-time sports reporter for the Inter-Mountain from late August 2013 through November 2015. After that, he took on the role of sports correspondent.

“Working for and with the Inter-Mountain newspaper has been the most fulfilling job I have ever had,” he said.

“The long nights of staying up late for a call from the coaches, listening to basketball games on the radio and hitting the fields on many days of the week were very rewarding — priceless actually.”

As a class of 1993 graduate of Philip Barbour High School, Baisi is familiar with the landscape of Barbour County and beyond.

“The one and only time I’ve ever been to Franklin was on a Monday night when a weather delay from the weekend had pushed a varsity football contest between East Hardy and hosting Pendleton County to a Monday night 6 p.m. start time, and the game went into single overtime with Pendleton plunging in from the 2-yard line for the win.

“Working for the paper in sports has taken me back to places where I played, places I’ve never been to, and most importantly, professional relationships with coaches that care about their student athletes,” Baisi said, noting he is excited to now be covering Barbour County news.

“I look forward to working with people from Barbour County to put out good and healthy stories about successes, upcoming events and more,” he said.

Baisi can be contacted via email at tbaisi1975@gmail.com for Barbour County news.
