UNH track & field

Several local athletes competed for the University of New Hampshire track and field team at this weekend’s New England Outdoor Championships. Newbury resident and Kearsarge graduate Zach Astle won three medals, two silvers in the hammer throw and shot put, and a bronze in the discus. Concord’ Aidan O’Hern won a silver in the 1,500 meters. The UNH men finished fifth at the New England Championships after finishing fourth in the America East Conference Championships two weeks ago. Concord’s Michaella Conery finished sixth in the 1,500 meters and Penacook’s Emma York finished 13th, helping the Wildcats finish third as a team. The UNH women placed second at the America East Conference Championships. Elsewhere in UNH track and field, Concord’s James Wilkes finished fourth at the IC4A/ECAC championships.

Tennis tourney

Andrew Caulfield and Dave Hall survived 11 rounds of round robin play and prevailed over Prasad Tadi and Jim Kennedy, 6-1, to win Bow Brook Club’s Spring Fling Tennis Tournament.

Reserve baseball

The Concord reserve baseball team lost to Bedford, 7-1. Griffen Norwalt had a hit. Mitchell Coffee pitched 3⅓ innings with eight strikeoutsand Nick Reynolds closed the game with three strikeouts in 3 innings.

JV results

The Hopkinton JV boys’ lacrosse team split a pair of games with Derryfield this week. The Hawks came from behind to win the first game, 7-6, and lost the rematch, 8-1. Lincoln Wilson (two goals, assist) and Garrett Fitzgerald (two goals) led Hopkinton in the victory, while Harrison Willson (goal) and Patrick Buss (assist) led the offense in the loss. The defense was anchored by Avery Condon, Ryan Metzger and Robert Rinden,while Danny Lee had 21 saves across the two contests.

Middle school results

The Hopkinton softball team defeated Three Rivers, 8-2. The Hawks were led by the hitting of Skylar Clay, Cassidy Follansbee and Shaylee Murdough. Amelia Bockius played well in the field and Murdough also pitched well.

Youth baseball

Swenson Granite defeated Tilton Northfield, 13-1, behind Nolan Walsh who had a double, triple and inside-the-park home run. Kingston Clermont added two hits, Carter Fontone had a triple and Mitch Ricard also helped Swenson offensively.

■In Concord Northeast majors action the Concord Pediatric A’s defeated Banks Chevrolet, 10-6. Jon Sisk had a home run for the A’s. For Banks, Jack Noel had a double and two RBI. Cullen Tierney (double, RBI) and Isaac Black (hit, RBI) also contributed offensively for Banks.

■Associated Grocers scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth, capped by an Edward Castle walk-off hit, to come from behind to beat Service Credit Union, 11-10. Grocers were led by the offense of Michael Bozek and the pitching of Adam Morgan and Emmett Barker. Service Credit Union was led by the pitching of Gavin Harvey and the hitting of Lucas St. John.

■The Sheepdog Enterprises Golden Knights minors team defeated Blue Rocks from Bow. The Golden Knights had solid pitching from George Kohl, Sam Kohl, Erik Hall and Logan French. The offense was marked with three runs scored by Tyler Levesque. The Blue Rocks showed grit with strong pitching from Collin Baier, Ryder Michaud, and Owen Cloutier. Timmy Johnston and Ryder Michaud led the Blue Rocks with two hits each, including a solo home run by Michaud.

Youth softball

Concord Northeast Local Baskit narrowly defeated Merrimack Valley Quality Press in a come-from-behind win thanks to the offense of Emily Gaby, strong pitching by Anna Leon and Dorothy Ricard and great catching by Annabelle Norwalt in her debut at the position.

Youth lacrosse

The Concord Crush girls’ 8U team lost to Londonderry, 12-7. Evelyn Belanger, Violet Crumrine, Marian Diaz and Evlin Landry all scored goals. Eliza Warden played well in net.
